The lion is a common charge, or symbol, in heraldry and symbolizes courage, nobility, royalty, strength, stateliness and valor, because historically it has been regarded as the "king of beasts". The Rampant Lion is central to The Royal Standard of Scotland, also known as the Banner of the King of Scots or more commonly the Lion Rampant of Scotland, and is the Scottish Royal Banner of Arms. The Lion of Judah stands in the coat of arms of Jerusalem. Similar looking lions can be found in the coats of arms of Finland, Flanders, the Czech Republic, and Norway, as well as many others.
Game of Thrones ~ House Lannister of Casterly Rock is one of the Great Houses of Westeros. Their Heraldry consists of a rampant lion and their official House words are "Hear me roar!", while their unofficial House words are "A Lannister always pays his debts."
Our cast iron lion plaque has a hammered, pewter colored finish that will weather naturally in the elements. To maintain original finish, simply spray with a protective clear coat before placing outside.
